Abstract | |||
The risk of breast and other cancers are being determined in a cohort of family members of ataxia-telangiectasia patients. Four Nordic cancer registries are participating in this record linkage study and 56 families have been identified. Using the registry based approach overcomes the problem of biased reporting of cancer history among family members. A-T patients are at increased risk of leukemia and lymphoma. The molecular component of this study includes sequencing the ATM gene in A-T patients as well as their relatives to identify specific mutations within families and in family members with breast cancer. Genotype-phenotype analyses are planned. |
